The Bridgton Alliance Church is part of the Christian and Missionary Alliance, a fast-growing evangelical denomination of some 2,000 churches in North America. The C & MA was born in 1887 as an "alliance of people for worldwide outreach . . . to tell men and women everywhere the Good News of Jesus Christ."
We are Christian because we believe in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. We are Missionary because we are committed to reaching people worldwide with the gospel. We are an Alliance of believers working together to help each other and make our world a better place to live.
Today, the C & MA is working in over 60 countries with over 1200 missionaries helping to minister to an overseas membership of two million people.
The Bridgton Alliance Church was founded in 1965 by Rev. Martin Smith, upon whose heart God placed a burden and a vision for the people of the Lakes Region area of Maine.
Following some 13 years of ministry at the Bridgton Alliance Church and 33 years as missionaries to Mali, Upper Volta (Burkina Faso), and France, Pastor Ed and Karen Boon retired on June 2, 2013, and have moved to Georgia. As our Elders and Administrative Board prayerfully search for a new senior pastor, our Director of Discipleship, Deborah Dean, and a variety of guest speakers will be speaking on Sunday mornings. All of our usual summer programs such as Friend Day (July 21) and Vacation Bible School (July 22-July 26) will be held as scheduled.
